Ximena Barreto

Barreto is a political commentator who produced videos pushing the Pizzagate conspiracy theory and other far-right talking points under the username “RepublicanChick.” Barreto was appointed deputy communications director at HHS in December 2017. She was temporarily placed on leave after Media Matters reported on her prior comments, but the Trump administration declined to fire Barreto. She finally departed HHS at the end of July 2018.
