Fox & Friends begs Trump to accept funding deal to avoid another government shutdown

Ainsley Earhardt: “This is a start. ... Maybe he can get another 55 miles and another $1 billion plus dollars for the next phase.”

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): They're starting 55 miles. Barack Obama built 133 miles. George [W.] Bush did 155 miles. This would get him up to about 110 and they're not going to slow down. So, even if the money was all there and they got $20 billion, they probably couldn't have picked up the pace. And Steve and Ainsley, this is only seven months.

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): But, keep in mind, Democrats didn't want him to build one mile.

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): So this is a big step, right?

DOOCY: I think the president's probably going to say, “You know what? I'm going to take that -- that number right there, $1.4 billion for 55 miles of border wall,” and then -- I bet he's got something up his sleeve.

...

DOOCY: I think the president forced the issue with the government shutdown, and now he sees some money. He's going to take that money; he's going to go along with the deal, and I don't think he's going to declare a national emergency. But, like I said, I don't know what his plan C is. But I think he's got another way to legally reprogram some money.

...

EARHARDT: If they're just building what they passed in 2017, this is a start. This will fund the government through September, and then maybe he can get another 55 miles and another $1 billion-plus dollars for the next phase.
