DANA PERINO (HOST): Michael, do Republicans -- are they reading this wrong?

MICHAEL MEEHAN (SQUARED COMMUNICATIONS): Well, I think that it's not surprise that the women of the Senate will be determining the fate of Kavanaugh, both on the Republican side and the Democratic side. The question is, if this woman wants to come forward and has an accurate claim, and the FBI could talk to her, why don't you let the FBI talk to her and get to the truth? It's a lifetime appointment. Another week or two of a vote's not going to set anybody back. You and I both have been through top-secret security clearances. The FBI's really good at this. They're very professional, they're very thorough, and can be very quick. So I don't understand why you don't let the FBI --

MATT SCHLAPP (AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION CHAIR): Actually all three of us, Michael, all three of us have been through the FBI process, and Brett's been through it six times over half of his life. And the only reason why the allegation is coming now is because he's at the tippy top of the most controversial political decision the country now makes. And for that, he is the victim here, and it's not just women who are going to determine his future--

MEEHAN: But it's a lifetime judgeship.

SCHLAPP: -- it's every member of the Senate.

MEEHAN: It's a lifetime appointment.

SCHLAPP: Yes, for liberals and for conservatives.

PERINO: Nobody here -- none of us, the three of us, we might have had gone through top-secret security confirmations, but none of us have ever been accused of attempted rape. And being forced into a situation where you want to -- you are eager to clear your name, and to testify, but you're basically right at this point, Michael, is Brett Kavanaugh basically boxing against a ghost. If she doesn't show up, what is he supposed to do?
