Fox regular: “We need to start locking up state and local officials” who enforce sanctuary policies

Former Bush aide Brad Blakeman: “When you protect illegals at the expense of American citizens, you know what we need to do? We need to start locking up state and local officials who break federal laws.”

HEATHER CHILDERS (CO-HOST): I heard someone form San Diego speaking earlier today on Fox & Friends, and he talked about the number of illegal criminals released from jails in that area. Said it was like 800 or something, and 350 of them ICE knew nothing about because [of] this communication breakdown between local officials and federal officials.

BRAD BLAKEMAN (FORMER DEPUTY ASSISTANT TO GEORGE W. BUSH): Yeah, and here's the ire that should be placed, that is on state and local officials who thumb their nose at federal law, make it more dangerous for the citizens they're charged to protect. Richard, in America we don't pick and choose the laws we seek to obey. We're bound to follow every law. And by sanctuary cities being placed in America, it puts law enforcement in danger, it puts citizens in danger. No, we're a union of 50 states. We all have to hang together or hang separately. The laws for everyone are the same. They need to be enforced. And we're not asking them to do anything that they're not legally bound to do. But when you thumb your nose, when you thwart the law, when you protect illegals at the expense of American citizens, you know what we need to do? We need to start locking up state and local officials who break federal laws.

RICHARD FOWLER (RADIO TALK SHOW HOST): Brad, that's a very simplistic way to look at federalism.
