Minutes after Parkland students discuss their planned march on Fox News Sunday, Rush Limbaugh mocks their efforts

Rush Limbaugh: “I have to ask if anybody is really serious about solving this … marches aren’t going to solve it.”

The February 18 edition of Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace opened with five students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school announcing their plans to demonstrate in support of gun violence prevention, with a March 24 event called “March for Our Lives.” Just minutes later, when host Chris Wallace asked Rush Limbaugh what he thought about the students’ plans for a march, Limbaugh questioned whether anyone was actually serious about solving the problem of gun violence and mocked the idea, exclaiming that “marches aren’t going to solve it.” Limbaugh doubled down later, stating that “Until we’re [ready] to get serious about where we are and how do we stop this from happening -- and marches aren’t going to do it, saying no more guns isn’t going to do it, bashing the NRA isn’t going to do it.”

CHRIS WALLACE (HOST): What do you think of this idea of students mobilizing across the country, a march on Washington, a march in communities, students trying to get politicians to act.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: What I found interesting about the students, they’re very articulate and you have to feel for them. It’s wrecked their lives. They are a combination [of] scared and angry. But, Chris, I have to ask if anybody’s really serious about solving this, because none of this -- and by the way, I couldn’t care less about the gun angle of this -- none of this is going to solve it. Prayers and condolences don’t solve it, and marches aren’t going to solve it.
