Right-wing YouTuber and anti-LGBTQ bigot Tim Pool baselessly accused an Illinois middle school teacher and an NBC News journalist of being pedophiles.
During a May 17 clip uploaded to his Timcast YouTube channel, Pool discussed a report from NBC News’ Today that covered an Illinois middle school teacher who resigned from her position following a police report filed by parents.
The report was in response to the teacher sharing the book This Book is Gay with her students. According to the Today story, the book is “billed by its publisher as an entertaining and informative ‘instruction manual’ for anyone coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans.”
“I believe that the only reasonable assumption that can be made is that this teacher is a pedophile who is trying to groom children and teach them about lewd, lascivious adult behaviors,” Pool asserted during the clip. “I can only assume this teacher had ill intent.”
Pool then went on to attack the NBC News journalist who covered the story.
“The only conclusion I can make is that the journalist is trying to protect pedophiles,” Pool said. “Perhaps the individual themself, … perhaps she is also a pedophile.”
Pool then went on to call for the arrest of the teacher and for her 10-year-old child to be removed from her home.
“Officers, if you are there, if you are listening — arrest this woman,” Pool said. “She must be convicted. Hopefully she’s not in a jurisdiction with a Soros DA.”
Pool repeated the slander on Twitter, describing the teacher again as a “pedophile.”
Right-wing outrage over This Book is Gay has also led to school bomb threats in New York and an attack on a public library in Ireland.
Other right-wing media figures similarly attacked the school teacher following her resignation.
Right-wing pundit Steven Crowder discussed the Illinois teacher and claimed she was part of a “concerted effort from teachers — and by that I mean Democrats, but I repeat myself — to groom your children today.”
The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh also attacked the teacher and accused her of being a “groomer.”
Pool’s YouTube show, Timcast IRL, is a soapbox for right-wing extremists, conspiracy theorists, and bigots. Notably, YouTube profits off of his abhorrent commentary.
This is not the first time Pool has groundlessly accused journalists of being pedophiles while streaming on YouTube.
