TIM POOL (HOST): The other thing and the bigger story in my opinion, of course, is the Trump administration telling people to back off of mass deportations — and that says to me, yeah, MAGA's dead.
Because if we're talking about making America great again and you want to talk about securing the petrodollar and putting down America's enemies, one could make an argument that by securing our control over international oil does benefit the United States, though it's not the principal focus of what I think make America great again was supposed to be. I still think you've got this -- over a long period of time, you've got this deference to China where they're sending all our manufacturing over there, weakening our base -- in the United States, our manufacturing base -- our cultural base. And, yeah, it's brutal and it's painful. Trump reverses that, secures our border, brings manufacturing back, instills tariffs, and is fighting the Democrats the whole time. Going to war with Iran is an attempt, at least it appears to be, to secure the petrodollar contract once again after Saudi Arabia got off -- the 50 year term ended. And so Trump is saying, tell me what you need, and the Gulf states are like, we need security. So Trump says, OK. And Iran is obstructing that.
So I don't think it's good. I don't think that we're in a good place, and I certainly understand why many people did not want this. Agreed. I think it's -- I -- look, Erik Prince said it's a roll of the dice, and I don't know that we're gonna get out of this one effectively. But I understand why Trump is doing it because he wants cheap energy prices so that he can, well, people can have cheap gas and cheap energy means more access to resources for less work. There's at least an argument that this is a short term or, you know, midterm benefit to Americans, though I understand why a lot of people are concerned that it may result in blowback. Trump's really rolling the dice on that one.
As to the mass deportation thing, OK, that's just MAGA's dead. Like, I got to be honest. If the Republican Party is now saying Joe Biden allowed in 10 million undocumented -- undocumented migrants, illegal immigrants as we call them. If he really did that and the Trump admin is saying, we're done with this. We're not going to do it. OK. Well, then America's over because Zohran Mamdani and many others have been calling these -- they call them undocumented citizens. I don't know if Zohran Mamdani said this specifically, but there are several people who have used that phrase trying to make it stick. Zohran Mamdani explicitly stated in his campaign in New York that he would protect noncitizens from federal law enforcement. I'm a go ahead and tell you right now, yeah, that means non-Americans, and he's representing criminal individuals in our country that we voted to remove. And then Donald Trump says, back off it.
