AGUSTÍN ACOSTA [HOST]: Even the most pragmatic people are concerned about the humanitarian aspect, because Cuba is not just the 2,000 or 3,000 members of the party and the armed forces and the high-ranking nomenclature. Cuba has 8 million people right now who are dying of hunger.

AGUSTÍN ACOSTA: I'm going to step outside of that dichotomy that I carry with me, that I am a Cuban who was born in Cuba and an American who has been here for 52 years. I'm going to step outside of the body of the Cuban, and I'm going to put myself in that of the American, because this is my country. I have lived here eight times longer than I lived in Cuba, in chronological time. Why are we going to risk the lives of American soldiers who have no stake in this matter and put them in danger for a military operation in which they may die? They are going to win, they are going to crush the Cuban forces.

CARLOS ACOSTA [CO-HOST]: That's right.

AGUSTÍN ACOSTA: But some may die, OK? We could cause destabilization in Cuba, which would then lead to an exodus of 200,000 to 300,000 rafters throwing themselves into the sea, even if it means clinging to a basin and drowning in the waters of the Florida Straits, as has happened in the past.
