Following the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Yates served as acting attorney general for 10 days. Trump dismissed Yates after she declined to defend his Muslim ban.

Maria Cardona is a political commentator for both CNN and its Spanish-language sister channel, CNN en Español. She has also worked on and with Democratic presidential campaigns for Hispanic outreach and was formerly the communications director for the Democratic National Committee.
