Time: Palin's dreadful polling numbers “might not matter”

Whatever you say Mark Halperin. Although honestly, I think they will matter if she, y'know, tries to get people to vote for her.

Right now according to a new Time poll, Palin would lose to Obama by 21 points. That's amazing. But somehow that doesn't stop Halperin from typing up his obligatory Palin's-a-geniuis-and-here's-how-she-can-win-the-WH homage. Why? Because GOP-friendly Beltway CW's cannot be debunked.

BTW, good luck trying to square Halperin's circle [emphasis added]:

A new TIME poll shows Palin losing to Obama 55% to 34%, a lopsided margin that leads some Republican strategists to predict a wipeout if Palin is eventually chosen as the party's nominee.

But that might not matter.

UPDATED: If the same Time poll showed Palin trouncing Obama by 21 points in a possible 2012 match-up, would Halperin also claim the results “might not matter”?
