Rush Limbaugh Reprises Sexist Role To Attack Sec. Clinton

Rush Limbaugh returned to making sexist and degrading comments about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying that she sounded like an angry “third or fourth wife” and claiming that the Democrats treat her “like an abused wife.” Limbaugh has repeatedly attacked Clinton by stereotyping her as an angry wife or a victim of abuse.

While discussing Clinton's congressional testimony about the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, and her impassioned response to Sen. Ron Johnson's questioning, Limbaugh stated on his Thursday show: “She was mad when she said it. That was third or fourth wife mad when she said it.”

He went on to claim that Democrats treat Clinton “like an abused wife.”

This isn't the first time Limbaugh has made such remarks. Just a few weeks ago, after Clinton took responsibility for the attacks in Benghazi, Limbaugh claimed he'd “never seen a woman so dumped on by men in her life” and called her a “doormat.” He has suggested that Clinton made herself into a victim to get where she is now and claimed that she isn't smart because she has “allowed herself to get stepped on every day of her marriage but turned it around to her benefit.” In March 2009, he played a clip of her criticizing the Bush administration and asked: “Doesn't that remind you of your first, and maybe your second, both, your ex-wives?”

In 2012, Limbaugh suffered a major loss of advertisers after calling reproductive rights activist Sandra Fluke a “slut” and “prostitute.” During a call with Cumulus investors in August 2012, CEO Lew Dickey suggested that Limbaugh's ad troubles would continue to be a “drag” on business for at least another six months to a year. Though Limbaugh has said he suffered no such loss, advertisers cited his volatile comments as a reason to drop his show. In January, Limbaugh said he would try to moderate his comments and be more mellow and less threatening.
