White Nationalists Stand With Trump After Clinton Highlights His Racist "Alt-Right" Ties

White nationalist media figures trashed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s speech highlighting Republican nominee Donald Trump’s connections to the racist “alt-right” movement. The racist figures said that the speech will “backfire tremendously” and that it showed Clinton is a “candidate for White dispossession.” They also reaffirmed their support for Trump, who they said represents an “implicit white revolt.”

Clinton Speech Criticized Trump For Ties To Racist Elements

Clinton Speech Criticized Trump For “Reinforcing Harmful Stereotypes And Offering A Dog Whistle To His Most Hateful Supporters.” Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton gave an August 25 speech criticizing Republican nominee Donald Trump for “reinforcing harmful stereotypes and offering a dog whistle to his most hateful supporters." She also noted that the “de facto merger between Breitbart and the Trump Campaign represents a landmark achievement for the ‘Alt-Right.’” [The Huffington Post, 8/25/16]

The “Alt-Right”/White Nationalist Movement And Trump Campaign Have Formed A Mutual Admiration Society. The so-called “alt-right” is a faction of the conservative media that’s attempting to rebrand classic white nationalism and that opposes diversity and immigration. Members of the “alt-right” and white nationalist movement have been heavily supporting Trump’s presidential campaign. Meanwhile, Trump and his campaign have engaged in a courtship with them that is unprecedented in recent American political history. That effort has taken on new life with Trump's hiring of Breitbart News chief Stephen Bannon. [Media Matters, 8/18/16, 8/25/16]

White Nationalists Trash Clinton Speech, Reaffirm Support For Trump

Hate Group Leader Richard Spencer: Clinton Is “A Candidate For White Dispossession.” Richard Spencer heads the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist “think tank,” and has received credit for founding the “alt-right.” The Associated Press reported that Spencer “matter-of-factly called for removing African-Americans, Hispanics and Jews from the United States” while attending the Republican National Convention. Spencer tweeted of the speech:

White Nationalist Leader Jared Taylor: “White Men, Clear Out.” The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which tracks and identifies hate groups in the United States, wrote that Jared Taylor “is the founder of the New Century Foundation and edited its now discontinued American Renaissance magazine, which, despite its pseudo-academic polish, regularly publishes proponents of eugenics and blatant anti-black and anti-Latino racists. The magazine was replaced by a lively website, Amren.com. Taylor also hosts a conference every year (it was formerly biannual) where racist intellectuals rub shoulders with Klansmen, neo-Nazis and other white supremacists.” Taylor tweeted of Clinton’s speech:

VDare’s Peter Brimelow: “Stop The Witch’s Hunt!” Peter Brimelow is the editor for VDare.com, which SPLC describes as "an anti-immigration hate website" with a white nationalist ideology. Brimelow wrote a fundraising post -- headlined “Stop The Witch’s Hunt! Hillary Clinton vs. Alt Right” -- before the speech praising Trump as “the best presidential candidate on immigration that we've ever had” and claiming Clinton is conducting a “witch’s hunt” against the white nationalist movement (emphasis in original):

But what's not great: I expect Clinton's speech be (sic) just be the start of a renewed and even more ruthless effort to drive any discussion of immigration out of public debate.

I can’t see any other reason for her to take this approach. She’s not attempting to challenge Trump on the merits of his positions. She’s apparently just going argue (sic) Guilt By Association—what the Left used to call “McCarthyism.” [VDare.com, 8/24/16; Southern Poverty Law Center, accessed 8/25/16]

Radio Host David Duke: Clinton’s Speech Will “Backfire Tremendously.” Radio host David Duke is a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard and one of the most infamous leaders of the white nationalist movement. Duke reacted to news of Clinton’s speech by comparing her to a “pedophile condemning children. It’s not going to make people condemn children by her speech. It’s only going to make people more support the alt-right because of this criminal individual who’ll mean the death for, truly, the America and the American people.” He also claimed that Clinton’s speech will “backfire tremendously” because the alt-right’s ideas are already spreading across the country. [Rense Radio Network, David Duke Show, 8/25/16]

Anti-Semitic Writer Kevin MacDonald Reaffirms Support: Trump Win Would Be “A Huge Thing For Us” Because It’s An “Implicit White Revolt.” SPLC described Kevin MacDonald as “the neo-Nazi movement's favorite academic,” who “published a trilogy that supposedly ‘proves’ that Jews are genetically driven to destroy Western societies.” MacDonald reacted to news of Clinton’s speech by stating it wouldn’t hurt the alt-right movement because white nationalism is “routine now.” He added that “if Trump wins, it’s going to be a huge thing for us because we are the only people that have supported him with any kind of ideological basis.” He and Duke further said that Trump represents an “implicit white revolt.” [Southern Poverty Law Center, accessed 8/25/16; Rense Radio Network, David Duke Show, 8/25/16]

Neo-Nazi Website Daily Stormer: “Despite What The Kike Media Is Claiming, This Is” A “Victory.” The Daily Stormer is a virulently anti-Semitic website that celebrates Nazism and purports to document the “Jewish Problem” and attacks “kikes.” Editor Andrew Anglin responded to news of Clinton’s speech by attacking “the kike media” for criticizing the “alt-right” and saying Clinton’s speech represented a “victory” for the movement. [Southern Poverty Law Center, 3/10/15; The Daily Stormer, 8/25/16]

White Nationalist Website American Renaissance: Trump Is Paving The Way For “An American Renaissance In Which The Truth About Race Is No Longer A Taboo.” American Renaissance is a white nationalist website headed by Jared Taylor that features “proponents of eugenics and blatant anti-black racists,” according to SPLC. Writer Chris Roberts reacted to the speech by claiming Clinton is “afraid of us” and that Trump “will slow our decline and perhaps even pave the way to an American Renaissance in which the truth about race is no longer a taboo”:

She is afraid of us. She is afraid of a movement that mostly exists on the internet. One of the forces that launched the Alt Right is Twitter. White advocates are active on Twitter not because they make a living at it, but because they believe in what they do. And they are running a risk. If you think people aren’t fired for saying the wrong things on social media, just ask Justine Sacco or Wendy Bell.

Hillary Clinton and her pals are afraid of us because we are reaching more and more white people. If whites really understood the racial implications of what she stands for, they wouldn’t vote for her as dog catcher.

[...]

We do not claim that Donald Trump is part of the Alt Right or that he is an advocate for white people. It is clearly unfair to make him responsible for our views. However, by promoting polices (sic) that put America first, he will slow our decline and perhaps even pave the way to an American Renaissance in which the truth about race is no longer a taboo, and we can begin to build a brighter future for our country and our people.

If you agree with American Renaissance that it is time for whites to take a stand, we want to hear from you. Tell us your story in the comments thread, send us a Tweet showing your support, write me an email (roberts@amren.com), or donate to support our work.
