Dittoheads: Fox News Turns To Rush Limbaugh For Talking Points

Fox News personalities including Greg Gutfeld and Eric Bolling are turning to Rush Limbaugh for what they have called “important” points and the “right” point of view during the debate over avoiding a default crisis and while assessing Standard & Poor's (S&P) decision to downgrade the U.S. credit rating.

Fox News Dittoheads Turn To Rush Limbaugh For “Important” Talking Points

Limbaugh: “Obamageddon. That's What We Have Witnessed Since Friday. Obamageddon. Barackalypse Now.” On his radio show, Rush Limbaugh said:

How many of you saw the movie Planet of the Apes? You see the movie Planet of the -- remember how that movie ended? Colonel George Taylor on a beach, Statue of Liberty halfway buried. New York City doesn't exist. Charlton Heston is Colonel George Taylor: You did it. You finally did it! Damn you all to hell, you did it.

That's how I feel today. That's how I felt all weekend long. Damnit to hell, they did it.

Obamageddon. That's what we have witnessed since Friday. Obamageddon. Barackalypse Now. The only silver lining I can find is that as far as 2012 goes, Obama's a Debt Man Walking. Anybody want to tell me he's not landslidable now? Let me repeat this as the media tweak of the day: What we have witnessed since Friday: Obamageddon, Barackalypse Now; and the only silver lining out there is that as far as 2012 goes, Obama's now Debt Man Walking. Bolling Carried On About “How Important What Rush Just Said Is.” Reading criticism of President Obama's speech, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy said, “Rush Limbaugh said yesterday on his program, he said Obama is a debt man walking in 2012. Rush went on to say Obamageddon, that's what we now have witnessed since Friday, it's Barackalypse Now.” Fox Business host Eric Bolling then lauded “how important what Rush just said is.” [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 8/9/11]

Limbaugh Bragged That Fox Parroted His Talking Point. While playing a clip of Fox & Friends discussing his comments, Rush Limbaugh said:

Barackalypse Now, Obamageddon. In fact they were talking about that on Fox this morning, the Fox & Friends, the co-host, weather guy Steve Goocy was talking -- Doocy -- talking to Eric Bolling at the Fox Business Network, and, and Doocy said, ya know Rush Limbaugh said yesterday, he said Obama's a debt man walking in 2012. He went on to say Obamageddon, that's now what we witnessed since Friday; it's Barackalypse now.

Yeah that's important what I said yesterday - well, important everyday folks, we all know this. [Premiere Radio Networks, The Rush Limbaugh Show, 8/9/11]

Fox's Greg Gutfeld: “I Think Rush Is Right. I Do.” In July, Fox News' Greg Gutfeld discussed competing plans to increase the debt limit and said: “Here's the thing, there are two competing ideas here. Charles Krauthammer and Rush Limbaugh. Charles Krauthammer says, declare victory, focus on 2012, Republicans. Rush Limbaugh says there really is no victory because the Boehner bill is going to turn into a Reid bill which has fake cuts and delays the budget.” Gutfeld also declared, “I'd like to believe that Krauthammer is right, but I think Rush is right. I do.” [Fox News, The Five, 7/29/11, via Nexis]

Limbaugh Also Highlighted Gutfeld's Praise Of Him. Rush Limbaugh also highlighted Gutfeld's praise of his views:

LIMBAUGH: Friday night on Fox News Channel, they got this new show at five o'clock, and they call it “The Five.” Do you know why they call it The Five? It's where Beck used to be. Do you know why they call it The Five? (interruption) No, well, partly 'cause it's five o'clock; it's 'cause they got five hosts. They do a roundtable-of-five hosts. Now, last Friday on Fox News Channel's The Five, at five o'clock, they had Greg Gutfeld who hosts Red Eye, and he has this exchange about the federal debt regulation and Kimberly Guilfoyle was also on there, and this is what Gutfeld had to say.

GUTFELD: There are two competing ideas here --

GUILFOYLE: The hobbits were victorious!

GUTFELD: -- Charles Krauthammer and Rush Limbaugh. Krauthammer says, “Declare victory, focus on 2012, Republicans.” Rush Limbaugh says, “There really is no victory because the Boehner bill's gonna happen, turn into a Reid bill which has fake cuts and delays the budget.”

GUILFOYLE: (garbled)

GUTFELD: I'd like to believe that Krauthammer is right, but I think I think Rush is right.
