Rush Joins Chorus; Absurdly Claims Oil Spill Is “Obama's Katrina”

Rush Limbaugh frequently tells his listeners that he exceeds their expectations, but he met them exactly when he kicked off today's show. After many in the media began pushing the absurd claim that the Gulf oil spill is “Obama's Katrina,” it was easy to predict that that's how Rush would lead off his broadcast. He didn't disappoint. (Of course, he later added that White House adviser David Axelrod isn't afraid that the spill will be “Obama's Katrina” because he “controls the media.”) Rush returned to the oil spill throughout the show, repeatedly claiming that Obama “didn't do anything” about the spill for eight days -- of course a timeline of events proves this to be a blatant falsehood. Later, Rush told a caller "you're right" when she offered the conspiracy theory that President Obama is “jumping for joy” over the spill. Limbaugh also said he wouldn't be surprised if “Halliburton is hauled up to Congress for show trials” as a scapegoat for the oil spill.

Rush did venture into topics other than the oil spill, but his remarks were no less ridiculous. He read extensively from a blog post at the American Thinker stating that “the Obama administration and its congressional collaborators almost resemble a foreign occupying force.” Rush agreed, adding that "[i]t feels like this is an administration that is not of this country." Rush informed his listeners that he had come up with a new name for the “Democrat Party.” It's the "Socialist Democrat Workers Party." Of course, he wouldn't let pass an opprtunity to link Democrats to the Nazis, so he informed us that he considered calling the Democrats the “National Socialist Democrat Workers Party,” but that one was “too many words,” even though “it works.” In a later segment, Rush touched on Time magazine's list of the world's 100 “Most Influential People.” He explained that every year, Time includes “a couple token conservatives in there, and this year it's [Glenn] Beck.” Rush then read from an essay by Bono that had lofty praise for Bill Clinton, which Rush said established the U2 singer as "the new Monica Lewinsky." He later advised, “Bono, just don't wear a purple dress to the party.” Stay classy, El Rushbo.
