Former Newsweek Executive Named Philadelphia Newspapers Publisher

Just days after creditors bought the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News through a bankruptcy-inspired auction, a new publisher has been named for the papers.

Gregory J. Osberg, former president and worldwide publisher of Newsweek and Newsweek.com, is to be the new publisher, the Inquirer reports.

“As such, he brings to the company a resumé steeped in electronic media as well as significant publishing experience,” the Inquirer stated. “He said he was drawn to his new job by the challenge.”
