Samantha Bee Shows How It’s Easier To Buy A Gun Without A Background Check Than Rent The NRA’s Eddie Eagle Costume

From the April 11 edition of TBS' Full Frontal with Samantha Bee:

SAMANTHA BEE (HOST): Thanks largely to the NRA's sensible campaign against gun regulations, gun violence has killed 70 Americans and injured 145 in the past 72 days. Oh, I'm sorry, wait, my bad, it's hours. The past 72 hours, as of this taping.

When the NRA isn't working to tirelessly to make sure our nation's guns can roam free, they occasionally teach gun safety to children.

That's Eddie Eagle, the NRA's gun safety mascot, who, when not in super lame cartoon form, is sent around the country patronizing children with unlistenable raps about guns.

But there's something about that costume. So mockable, so asinine, I had to have one. But it turned out the organization that makes it easier to get a gun than Sudafed makes it nearly impossible to acquire their giant dancing eagle.

But you know what I could still buy online without a big hassle? A used shotgun on from a random guy down the road from the TBS headquarters in Atlanta. So I had one of my employees buy it from him in a parking lot without a background check from the trunk of his car.

So I sent my team to the New Mexico gun show to see about borrowing a costume. Plenty of gun-loving toddlers, no sign of Eddie anywhere. We didn't want to leave empty-handed so my producer set out to pass the rigorous background check.

GUN SELLER: One question, are you a felon?

BEE: Good thing felons never lie.
