Moms for Liberty’s chapter in Seminole County, Florida, is teaching its members how to use guns.
According to the event page, the two-session gun training is part of the group’s September social event programming. The first session will be held at an undisclosed private residence on September 11 and focus on firearms safety, while the second session will occur two weeks later at the Shoot Straight Gun Range in Casselberry, Florida.
Moms for Liberty’s Seminole chapter has a personalized “About Us” section on its website highlighting the group’s passion for “the limited role of government,” claiming to “empower parents to stand up for their God given parental rights,” and pledging to “stand together against government overreach.”
Moms for Liberty was designated an anti-government extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2023, and multiple chapters across the country have been linked to extremist militia movements such as the Three Percenters, Oath Keepers, and Proud Boys. The group has also received consistent support from far-right media outlets including Breitbart and Steve Bannon’s War Room.
It’s unclear how training moms to use guns relates to education or parental rights.
