On the November 14 broadcast of San Francisco radio station KSFO's Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Program, Morgan said, “We've got a bull's-eye painted on her big, wide laughing eyes,” referring to House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), as noted by blogger Spocko. On the November 20 broadcast of the show, Morgan again asserted that “it's time to put the bull's-eye” on Pelosi. As Media Matters for America has noted, Morgan previously said that she “would have no problem” with New York Times executive editor Bill Keller “being sent to the gas chamber” if he “were to be tried and convicted of treason” for the publication of an article about a Treasury Department program that monitors international financial transactions for terrorist activity.

On the November 14 broadcast, Morgan also asserted that there are “700 days to start pushing conservative values and to start hitting back at the Democrats and slap the crap out of 'em,” and referred to Pelosi as “Nancy McNasty.” After co-host Rodgers referred to Pelosi as “Nancy with the laughing face,” Morgan responded, “If you could call it that.” After Morgan's remark on the November 20 program, KSFO host Brian Sussman asked, “Now can we talk about Nancy Pelosi's new look?” Sussman then engaged in an extended discussion with Morgan and Tom Benner, who appears on the radio show as “Officer Vic,” about whether Pelosi has had recent cosmetic surgery, a smear of Pelosi common among conservatives.

During the November 20 broadcast, Morgan also said, “I am putting together my down-and-dirty book on Ms. Pelosi, getting a book proposal, and boy, do I have some good dirt on her.” As Media Matters noted, Morgan published a book in October that smeared another favorite target of the right wing: anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan. Along with Catherine Moy, Morgan co-authored American Mourning: The Intimate Story of Two Families Joined by War, Torn by Beliefs (WND Books), which is purportedly a biography of two families who lost soldiers in Iraq, including Sheehan's family. Although Morgan has acknowledged that there are “not a lot” of “new things” about Sheehan in the book, it nonetheless contains accusations by Sheehan's former sister-in-law that “Cindy had become addicted to online chat rooms of a pornographic nature” and “eventually had physical rendezvous as well.”

From the November 14 broadcast of KSFO's The Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Program:

RODGERS: Ms. Melanie, I hear, I hear tell, you were naughty on the Hannity & Colmes TV show last night. What is the word?

MORGAN: Yes, I [inaudible]

RODGERS: What did you do, girl? What did you do?

MORGAN: I was naughty. Well, I just decided I've had it, up to my eyeballs with crap that we are hearing from the liberal Democrats, “We won, you people lost, and nyah nyah.” So I decided, 700 days, that's my theme. I got -- we got 700 days to start pushing conservative values and to start hitting back at the Democrats and slap the crap out of 'em. They need it. So --

RODGERS: And where are we starting with this?

MORGAN: We decided to focus on Madame Speaker, Nancy McNasty, our dear, dear friend from San Francisco, who is the presumptive --

RODGERS: Speaker of the house, yeah.

MORGAN: -- speaker of the house. And so I -- I have been doing a little bit of research. In fact, I held up on TV, which you won't be able to see when you hear this clip, but I had a three-ring binder of my first pass at my research into the lovely and talented wide-eyed Nancy with the laughing eyes.

RODGERS: Yes. Yes.

MORGAN: So --

RODGERS: Laughing face.

MORGAN: Well, yes

RODGERS: Nancy with the laughing face.

MORGAN: If you could call it that, I mean.

RODGERS: With my eyes wide open.

MORGAN: Yeah.

[...]

RODGERS: Oh, let's hear it for Nancy.

[song: "With My Eyes Wide Open, I'm Dreaming"]

RODGERS: Yeah, she's dreaming, all right. She's dreaming of personally strangling Melanie Morgan.

MORGAN: Oh. We've got a bull's-eye painted on her big, wide laughing eyes.

RODGERS: Easy, easy, easy.

MORGAN: Eyes, I said eyes.

RODGERS: Yeah, well, that's the only thing about her that's big and wide.

From the November 20 broadcast of KSFO's The Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Program:

BENNER: Couple of others names right now, the buzz, the general feeling, the general conversation. Nancy Pelosi.

[laughter]

BENNER: There had to have been a couple of mentions.

MORGAN: There was conversation. [Former House Majority Leader] Tom DeLay [R-TX] actually -- there's an article in the paper this morning that he says that Nancy Pelosi is the number one target. And, of course, I already have been saying that, and I am putting together my down-and-dirty book on Ms. Pelosi, getting a book proposal, and boy, do I have some good dirt on her.

BENNER: Yeah?

MORGAN: Ooooh.

SUSSMAN: It's like a feeding frenzy.

MORGAN: But apparently DeLay agrees that it's time to put the bull's-eye on her.

SUSSMAN: Now, can we talk about Nancy Pelosi's new look? She's definitely had some work during those two weeks that she was gone or three weeks or whatever, her eyes have been softened, I don't know if she's got some implants going or a collagen injection or if it's actual surgery, but let's face it, they -- whoever worked on her this time around did a better job than the first time.

BENNER: Yes. Yes, I agree with you.

MORGAN: Well, the first three times.

SUSSMAN: Well, whatever. The first times, plural.

MORGAN: Well, yeah, that wide-eyed, surprised look of hers

SUSSMAN: Yeah. I mean, they really softened her look.

BENNER: There was a particularly funny moment when she came out last Wednesday or Thursday or whenever it was and there was the [Rep. John] Murtha [D-PA] vote, there's [incoming House Majority Whip] Steny Hoyer [D-MD]. And she came out and she did a little talk and then she yielded to Hoyer, I guess it was. And she was standing off to the side, and she was --

MORGAN: Blinking?

BENNER: -- trying to blink her eyes. And, of course, during her whole talk she never -- her eyes never moved. But they -- she's off camera now, and she's, like, trying to get a little moisture going in there, trying to wipe away the dust. And it was painful to watch.

MORGAN: Oh, I know.

BENNER: Like she had to physically go --

SUSSMAN: She didn't know she was on camera.

BENNER: No. And she --

MORGAN: Or maybe she did, and she can't help it.

BENNER: Well, perhaps. But, I mean, it was one of those things where you could see the message in her brain going, “You must blink,” and her eyes would go, “I'm trying! Aaah!”

SUSSMAN: So she's one of these ladies that's sleeping with her eyes open, right?

MORGAN: Oooh.

BENNER: Oh, I guess. Oh, my goodness.
