AGUSTIN ACOSTA (HOST): What’s happening is that Democrats smell and taste triumph in November.
CARLOS ACOSTA (HOST): That’s right.
AGUSTIN: They have seized and will continue to seize this, because they perceive that this is a cause that has fallen onto their plate.
CARLOS: Their bread and butter here is the immigration issue.
AGUSTIN: Exactly. I will read to you 15 polls that have come out this year. Some of them have been done by liberal media outlets like CNN, others by conservative media like Rasmussen and the Fox channel. I will tell you the media and by how much the Democrats are beating the Republicans, because the Democrats are winning in all of them. Morning Consult, the Democrats had a 4-point advantage. Ugov, 6 points advantage for the Democrats. Signal, 4 points advantage for the Democrats. PPP, 7 points advantage. Harris, from Harvard University, 4 points advantage. Fox News, 6 points advantage. Market University, 7 points advantage. Ipsos, 4 points advantage. Big Data, 4 points. Quantus, 6 points advantage. Emerson College, 6 points advantage. Siena College for the New York Times, 5 points. CNN, 5 points. Rasmussen Research, 6 points. Wall Street Journal, 4 points. In all these 15 polls they’re winning, they have been done between January 1st and today. The Democrats are winning control of the House of Representatives.
CARLOS: That gives you an average of 5.5 points advantage.
AGUSTIN: Exactly, 5.2.
CARLOS: That’s right.
AGUSTIN: The Democrats are smelling it, they are scenting it. If what we are doing is not giving us results, it won’t change, we’ll stay there.
CARLOS: We’ll be sticking right there, because this is happening, as we have talked about on other occasions, it’s because when you ask a Republican, they will not tell you they will vote Democratic, they will tell you they will not go vote.
AGUSTIN: This is what happened in the east district in Texas, where a couple Saturdays ago a pair of candidates, a Democrat and a Republican, faced off. In that district, Donald Trump won by 17 points. The Democratic candidate won by 14, there was a 31-point difference. What happened? Did the Republicans vote for the Democrat? No, they simply did not come out to vote.
ARMANDO GUZMAN (GUEST): If the congressional elections were today, there is no doubt that they would lose one of the chambers, perhaps both. If the presidential election were today, President Trump himself would lose today. As we said, what was his winning issue has turned into his worst nightmare. Unless he changes all that, and that would be hard to do, there will be consequences within - how many months are left? - within nine months. So we are here in these series of polls and national points of view regarding where we are with all this and this is why the administration is now first of all trying to get out of Minnesota. Now the governor of Minnesota is saying “no, before you go, you have to pay me for everything you broke,” that means that there will be litigation and that the governor of Minnesota will draw that out, obviously, because it conveniences him, and that kind of thing will be an obstacle. What they are doing now is buying buildings and places to expand all the migrant detention centers, or they will have to stop that or they will face the consequences. I am not telling them to find a compromise between now and Saturday, the way I have heard people talking in the Capitol has left me with the impression that there is not much that can be reached unless the administration folds and says, “yes, we will put cameras on every agent, and only go after people with deportation orders” and get rid of the masks of the agents.
AGUSTIN: We will see. I will tell you what I have been seeing live since September and have been saying on this show. I have been saying this to representatives from here in south Florida, I have said it to various people connected to the Republican Party. The procedure that Mrs. Noem and Mr. Stephen Miller have been using is what has brought Trump this headache, because the majority of people do not disagree with the substance, rather the way they have been doing it. Closing the border, getting the worst of the worst out, the criminals who have entered. I believe the majority of people of any affiliation, independent, Republican, Democrat, would agree with that. What happens is that the process has gotten out of hand, there are over 200 American citizens who have been arrested, detained, some of them mistreated with broken bones and things like that, American citizens who have been arrested by mistake, and nobody has apologized to them.
