Newsmax's Greg Kelly on the 2028 Republican nomination: “I think Vance has it all but locked up”

GREG KELLY (HOST): All right, well, what do you say? The funeral was today, so we're not going to say anything too critical. Tomorrow we will. But look, long life. A lot of big jobs. And the funeral was today.

I couldn't believe that Vice President Vance wasn't invited. The sitting vice president for another vice president. I get it, the Cheneys hate President Trump. But Vice President Vance? You didn't invite him to the funeral? A grudge, right? Just grudges. I thought they were bigger than that. Let's take a look at some of the people here. They're all big time grudge holders, right? W., Biden, of course. You know, the whole lot of — oh, there's Kamala, Mike Pence.

Man, Mike Pence did some seriously deceitful things, in my opinion. We've addressed that before. We'll address it again.

Liz gave a pretty much apolitical eulogy. She hinted at a couple of things, but that was fine. Let's see George W Bush — he did not look too good. All right. And he got a couple of digs in. That's how I thought, that's how I kind of interpreted it. He doesn't look good either.

And I mention that because there's all this talk of a Bush comeback. The Bush family is plotting a comeback. Yeah, all kinds of reporting about it. Bush family plotting comeback. And W. could be at the helm of it. They want to retake the GOP from Trump. They know he's term-limited and that there is a shadow Republican Party and it's lying in wait to take over when Trump is gone. And George W. Bush could be helpful in all of this.

And how's this for an observation from a Trump loyalist? A big open field within the Republican Party for the 2028 presidential race.

I'm pretty close to this stuff and I don't see it that way. I think Vance has it all but locked up. You never know. But I just don't think W. has the energy. All right.

He — no, he's not into it. He's not passionate about it. I heard him once say, look, I had all the power and fame I wanted. I don't need any of that stuff anymore. He really said that. Like, as if it were all about power and fame. And for a lot of these guys, that is what it's about.
