NOAH ROTHMAN (GUEST): The economy is primed. The only thing that's the obstacle in the way are policymakers who get in the way and try to distort the market. Listen to that litany that the White House Press Secretary laid out. It was deregulation, it was increasing supply, it was unleashing the marketplace. And that conflicts with this 50-year mortgage plan, which makes absolutely no sense. It's one of those ideas you have when you're absolutely out of ideas. Inflation is still up. Consumer costs are still rising and, as a result, we have increased interest rates to make more money expensive. To decrease demand. That's all inflation is.
Inflation is too much money chasing after too few goods. And that's the problem in the housing market. You want to increase supply, not subsidize demand. Push local, municipal, states to reduce construction barriers. Make importing the cost of these materials lower. Don't put new taxes, import taxes, on them, which the administration has done. Unleash the market place. Don't distort the market and then blame your distortions, or blame free enterprise rather, for your distortions.
