Fox contributor Thomas Homan “absolutely” supports detaining asylum seekers in tent cities

Homan, a former acting ICE director, has been floated as a possible candidate for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

From the November 20 edition of Fox News' Outnumbered Overtime:

THOMAS HOMAN (FORMER ACTING ICE DIRECTOR): To be clear to your audience, Harris, 91 percent -- the latest data on asylum seekers is 91 percent of Central Americans who pass the Credible Fear [inaudible] do not get credible fear from an immigration judge. Because they are presenting fraudulent claims, they don't qualify under the rules of asylum: escaping fear, persecution because of religious or their political positions. So the facts are facts, 9 out of 10 will lose their case, which means it is -- it's loaded with fraud and frivolous claims. But what we do is what the president is doing, he's building, you know, tent cities --

HARRIS FAULKNER (HOST): Are you in favor of that?

HOMAN: Absolutely. We gotta detain them. Because here's the issue, here's why these caravans keep coming. If we don't detain them long enough to see a judge, and they get released, many don't show up in court and even if they do show up in court 90 percent get told no, and less than 5 percent have left the Untied States. So it is an open borders policy.
