Cavuto hosts corruption-plagued Nevada governor -- guess what he didn't ask about?

Yesterday, Fox News' Neil Cavuto hosted Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons (R) to talk about the tea parties, Sen. Harry Reid's race, the political mood of the country, and his own primary race. Left unmentioned by Cavuto was the main reason why Gibbons is viewed by many as likely to be defeated in his Republican primary today: Gibbons' many on-going scandals and legal problems. Instead, Cavuto, after mentioning that Gibbons is behind in the polls, wondered if he was the victim of the “general anti-incumbent mood out there.”

In April, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) named Gibbons as one of “America's Worst Governors.” CREW, which goes after both Republicans and Democrats, summarized its objections to Gibbons as follows:

• Violated campaign finance law by accepting illegal corporate donations

• Allegedly assaulted a waitress

• Overlooked ethical lapses of his appointee

• Misused state resources in pursuit of an extra-marital affair

• Endangered his state's economy by threatening to reject federal stimulus funds

• Has been involved with various investigations stemming from his time in congress

CREW went on to note that Gibbons is currently the subject of numerous “ongoing investigations or claims.”

Gibbons' on-going ethics problems aren't exactly a secret, as both the state and national media have reported on them for years. Yet for some reason, Cavuto didn't bother mentioning Gibbons' problems the day before his election.
