MARC THIESSEN (FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR): What President Trump should do in Syria is think about what would Barack Obama do, and then do the opposite. The danger is that this is coming just a few -- a week after there was major talk about a US withdrawal, immediate withdrawal, or a very quick withdrawal from Syria.

And, look, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Israel took this military action against the Assad regime because Israel -- they've already done it before, in 2007 they took out the Syrian nuclear reactor, so they've taken action in Syria before. And Israel is extremely worried about a possible US withdrawal from Syria because that would allow Iran to move in and consolidate a massive military presence in Syria, which is a direct threat to Israel. Israel recently shot down an Iranian drone that was flying over its territory from Syria. And [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will not allow Iran to establish a military presence in Syria, and he will go after not just Iranian proxies, but Iran itself. So if we withdraw and allow Iran to move in and fill the vacuum, it could spark a cataclysmic war with Israel in the region, and that’s just one of many reasons why he shouldn’t withdraw.
