Geraldo Rivera: Christine Blasey Ford's report of sexual assault against Kavanaugh was used in an “attempted coup” by Democrats

Rivera: “I think this was a plot from the very beginning ... I think it was an attempted coup”

GERLADO RIVERA (FOX NEWS ROAMING CORRESPONDENT-AT-LARGE): I think every Democrat, maybe with the exception of [Sen. Joe] Manchin, will vote no. I think that was expected but I think last night we went over a very, very profound hump and I think it is very clear now that Judge Kavanaugh will become Justice Kavanaugh.

BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): What do you mean by hump? You mean as a country or just in the confirmation?

RIVERA: I think both of those things, Brian. I think, first of all, what the Democrats did in this process was totally premeditated. Now what I'm about to tell you is my opinion of a scenario that happened. They were holding an extremely weak hand, the Democrats, they had a minority in the United States Senate, a minority in the House of Representatives, they do not control the White House, this thing, this nomination was steamrolling --

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): Couldn't stop him.

RIVERA: -- this epic nomination was steamrolling to a conclusion and then they dropped the letter from Dr. [Christine Blasey] Ford that they had had so many weeks before. They did it intentionally, they did it to get Kavanaugh's nomination withdrawn. The midterms happen, there's no time for the president to nominate another alternate jurist, then it's the Christmas holidays, then the new government takes place -- they were hoping against hope, the Democrats, that they would take one of the houses, maybe the Senate, they're working so hard to do that and would deny President Trump indefinitely the opportunity to name the ninth crucial jurist. I think this was a plot from the very beginning.

DOOCY: You say it was an attempted coup by the Democrats.

RIVERA: I think it was an attempted coup. I think that [Sen.] Dianne Feinstein when she had the golden note from Dr. Ford went to [Sen.] Chuck Schumer and they said, “OK, we've got it, here's how we will use it, we'll whack it right at the last moment so the process is blindsided. There's no time for the president to recover.”

DOOCY: But that's how Capitol Hill works.

RIVERA: It is exactly -- I am not faulting it, I am merely suggesting that this did not happen serendipitously.

Michelle Malkin: Ford's report that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her is “something that I, frankly, believe never, ever happened”

Fox's Andrew McCarthy: “We have to conclude that” Kavanaugh sexual assault report “is just a setup"

Laura Ingraham on Kavanaugh: “This all has the whiff of a political smear masquerading as a sexual assault allegation”
