GRIFF JENKINS (CO-HOST): You know, can I just say this is clearly a tragedy. And everyone grieves for this young ICU nurse. But it's important to to note that this was avoidable.
RACHEL CAMPOS-DUFFY (CO-HOST): Yeah.
CHARLIE HURT (CO-HOST): Totally.
CAMPOS-DUFFY: Totally.
JENKINS: Because of the chaos -
JENKINS: And you have to wake up and feel for Alex Pretti and his family and his grieving parents, but also you have to wonder why does a nurse feel compelled to go confront ICE armed with a 9mm handgun? And, Rachel and Charlie, I can't but help remember when Governor Walz earlier this week on Wednesday took to the microphones, and this was his message as the situation was escalating in the wake of the tragic killing of Renee Good.
...
HURT: Only one person could have prevented this from happening, and it's Alex Pretti. He should not have been there, he should not have confronted ICE. I don't know -- I know more people who concealed carry than people who don't concealed carry. I don't know a single person who concealed carries who would go up and, confront police, especially if they were armed. Every single person I know who concealed carries, If you get pulled over for a speeding ticket, doesn't matter if you don't think you were speeding -- doesn't matter what the - you could - put your hands on the wheel and say, offer I've got a concealed carry permit, I've got a loaded weapon in my car here.
And the officer usually goes, okay, thanks for letting me know, do you know why I stopped you, and it moves on from there. That's the way the people who have concealed carry permits behave. They don't put extra magazines in their pocket and go and confront police and then wind up in a physical altercation with police. And it's a tragedy, what happened to this guy.
CAMPOS-DUFFY: And-
HURT: But he is the only person who could have prevented it.
