Fox & Friends joins other pro-Trump media falsely suggesting Comey met with NY Times

Fox & Friends repeated a misleading claim from other pro-Trump outlets that former FBI Director James Comey was “a special visitor” at the New York Times’ Manhattan office. Photos first circulated by The Daily Mail show Comey entering the office building on June 22. Shortly after, pro-Trump fringe outlets, including The Gateway Pundit, fake news purveyor TruthFeed, and Zero Hedge, alleged that Comey was going there to meet with the Times. Comey was actually in the building, which the Times shares with several other offices, to attend a charity event. Times reporter Maggie Haberman confirmed that Comey “didn’t visit the NYT newsroom” while he was in the building. From the June 23 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends:

ED HENRY (CO-HOST): Wonder what James Comey was doing at the New York Times. It's so odd.

STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): Why would he go right in the front door?

AINSLEY EARHARDT (CO-HOST): I know. He’s not even trying to hide.

HENRY: He’s wearing sunglasses.
