For Criticism Of Obama's Libya Policy, Fox Turns To Anti-Park51 Activist

Today, Fox & Friends hosted Ryan Mauro, national security adviser for the Christian Action Network and founder, to criticize President Obama for supposedly not dealing strongly enough with Libyan strongman Muammar Gadhafi.

Mauro argued that Obama has not done enough about Libya and should, along with allies, establish a “no-fly zone” over Libyan airspace. Neither Mauro nor the Fox & Friends co-hosts discussed Mauro's background or qualifications any further. But according to The New York Times, Ryan Mauro is the producer of Christian Action Network's film, “Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mega-Mosque.”

The Christian Action Network has numerous posts devoted to smearing the people trying to build the Park51 community center in lower Manhattan, which the right refers to as the “Ground Zero Mosque.”

One of those posts, by Christian Action Network president Martin Mawyer, called the attempt to build the Park51 community center “a sign of domination” with Muslims attempting to build mosques on land they had “conquered.” Mawyer also compared the attempt to build the mosque to a situation in Cairo where Egyptians destroyed a newly-built Coptic church.

Mauro has also penned a book that, according to its book description, “reveals the truth about the existence of Iraqi WMD programs and their movement into other countries, Saddam Hussein's role in helping Osama Bin Laden attack the free world, and the ongoing treachery of so-called allies.”

Indeed, a section of Mauro's website is dedicated to finding the missing Iraqi WMD.

Furthermore, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Christian Action Network is also known for extreme anti-gay activism.

The SPLC reports:

In his “dirty and dangerous” battle against “militant homosexual groups,” Mawyer has not held back. In 1997, after Ellen Degeneres came out as a lesbian on her TV sitcom, Mawyer accused her of “DUMPING HER FILTHY LESBIAN LIFESTYLE RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF YOUR LIVING ROOM!! ... If we allow the tidal wave of gay and lesbian smut to continue to pour into our homes, it will utterly consume us in no time at all!”

In 1999, he asked the Federal Communications Commission to put an “HC [homosexual conduct] warning label” on TV programs with gay characters.

SPLC also reports that Christian Action Network produced an ad during Hillary Clinton's 2000 run for Senate strongly implying that Clinton was a secret lesbian:

Over ominous drumbeats, the narrator intoned: “It is rumored that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian. It is rumored that Hillary Clinton supported homosexual marriage. It is rumored that Hillary Clinton will leave her husband upon taking office. ... Sometimes, rumors are true. Shouldn't you know the truth? For more information on traditional family values, please contact the Christian Action Network.”
