Fox panel attempts to spin deal that gave Trump far less money for a border barrier than he wanted as “a defeat for” Democrats

Steve Forbes: “He didn't get the $5 [billion], but more than what they wanted to give him. ... This is a defeat for them.”

From the February 14 edition of Fox Business' Mornings with Maria Bartiromo:

STEVE FORBES (EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, FORBES): Do you think the Democratic far-left is going to go bonkers that the president got $1.4 billion? He didn't get the $5 [billion], but more than what they wanted to give him.

REP. CHUCK FLEISCHMANN (R-TN): Steve, I wish you could sit down and talk to the poor folks on the Democratic far-left, you would talk some sense into them about the mandatory spending problems you alluded to earlier in the show. But they're not going to support this, they can't, because it's a defeat for them, and --

FORBES: Well, that's something that should be emphasized. This is a defeat for them.

FLEISCHMANN: Yes. It is a defeat for them.
