Yes, it has come to this.
Some Fox “news” anchors are lying about why Canada’s national broadcaster aired the 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York without President Donald Trump’s brief cameo.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation gave an official explanation that the edit was made back in 2014, when the network first acquired the license for the movie, and was just one of many cuts. The total edits added up to 8 minutes, in order to make room for commercials.
But on the December 27, 2019, edition of Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, co-anchors Leland Vittert and Molly Line sarcastically cast doubt on the CBC’s official explanation.
(Side note: The film was edited for Canadian TV not only before Trump became a candidate for president, but also before Justin Trudeau was elected prime minister, both of which occurred in 2015.)
The day before, on Fox & Friends, Fox’s chief national correspondent and soon-to-be Fox News anchor Ed Henry also asserted that Trump’s cameo was “the one part” that got cut from the movie, mocking the idea that this would have been enough for commercial time. “But how bad is your Trump derangement syndrome,” Henry asked, “for you to cut that out of a happy movie like that?”
