Trump's White Supremacist Support Is Thrilled With His Supreme Court Pick

David Duke: “Another Great Win By Trump! Hillary Over The Next 8 Years Would Make The Supreme Court Indistinguishable From The Israeli Knesset!”

White nationalists heavily praised President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, lauding the fact he is “old stock American,” “a white male,” “WASPy,” and not Jewish.

Trump Announces He Will Nominate Neil Gorsuch To The Supreme Court

Trump Nominates Neil Gorsuch To Supreme Court. The New York Times reported that President Donald Trump nominated Judge Neil M. Gorsuch, “a conservative in the mold of Justice Antonin Scalia,” who, if confirmed, would be “the youngest nominee to the Supreme Court in 25 years.” From the January 31 report:

President Trump on Tuesday nominated Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, elevating a conservative in the mold of Justice Antonin Scalia to succeed the late jurist and touching off a brutal, partisan showdown at the start of his presidency over the ideological bent of the nation’s highest court.

At 49, Judge Gorsuch (pronounced GORE-sutch) is the youngest nominee to the Supreme Court in 25 years, underscoring his potential to shape major decisions for decades to come. In choosing him, Mr. Trump reached for a reliably conservative figure in Justice Scalia’s mold, but not someone known to be divisive.

“I will do all my powers permit to be a faithful servant of the Constitution and laws of this great country,” he said. He also praised Justice Scalia as “a lion of the law.” [The New York Times, 1/31/17]

White Nationalists Have Consistently Praised Trump’s Points Of View

White Nationalists Vehemently Supported Trump Throughout The Campaign. At various points throughout the presidential campaign, white nationalists indicated that they saw Trump as the “last stand” for their movement. Racist groups praised Trump’s stance on immigration, backed his anti-Muslim policy proposals, hailed his anti-Semitic tweet, and more. [Media Matters, 11/16/16]

Trump And His Campaign Have Had A Disturbing Level Of Interaction With White Nationalists. Trump repeatedly refused to denounce neo-Nazis and known white supremacist David Duke, selected a white nationalist leader as a convention delegate, gave press credentials to white nationalist John Edwards, and promoted anti-Semitic writers. White Nationalists Showered Trump With Praise For His Muslim Ban. Racist writers expressed “ecstatic joy” over Trump’s executive order barring refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. and called on Trump to arrest or impeach federal judges who oppose the ban. White Nationalists Praise Trump’s Pick As “Exactly What We Wanted”

White Nationalist Richard Spencer Cheered Gorsuch As “A Very WASPy Justice.”

[Twitter, 1/31/17, 1/31/17; Media Matters, 8/25/16] “This Is A Huge Day For The WASPs.”, a website that white nationalist Richard Spencer helps run, lauded the selection of Gorsuch in a January 31 article, calling him a “White Anglo Saxon Protestant originalist and constitutionalist” and claiming that it was a “huge day for WASPs,” using an acronym for white Anglo-Saxon Protestants. VDare: Gorsuch Is An “Old Stock American.” White nationalist website praised Trump for nominating an “old stock American” and “a regular white American, rather than looking for the ‘first transgendered Yezidi justice’ or whatever.” The website added that Gorsuch’s last name is of “English [origin], or to put it another way ‘American.’” From the January 31 article:

Trump has nominated Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, to replace the late, much missed Antonin Scalia. (Five Thirty Eight calls him a “Scalia clone.”)

[...]’s John Reid rated Gorsuch better than Pryor or Hardiman. His only concern was that Gorsuch might be “Too Principled For The Current Immigration Crisis”.

Talking about it before the announcement, I asked Peter Brimelow what he thought was the probability that Trump would nominate a regular white American, rather than looking for the “first transgendered Yezidi justice” or whatever, and he thought it was almost certain.

The only thing that remains is to apply the old Archie Bunker Test of “What kind of name is Gorsuch?” The answer is, oddly enough, English, or to put it another way “American.” (What used to be called Old Stock American.) [, 1/31/17; Media Matters, 1/24/17]

Former KKK Leader And Radio Host David Duke: “If Clinton’s Appointment Had Gone In We’d Have A Jewish, Leftist Crazy.” David Duke published a recording and an accompanying article where he lamented the number of Jews on the Supreme Court and expressed gratitude for Trump appointing “the first white Protestant … in years and years and years” and commenting that, he “can’t imagine a better Supreme Court justice.” Duke encouraged Trump to pick similar Supreme Court justices in the future, saying that if he fails to do so, “[white people] are going to go into the ashbin of history.” Duke’s praise was accompanied by an anti-Semitic photo:

[Twitter, 1/31/17] “We Actually Have A White Male Here!” Neo-Nazi website Infostormer, whose slogan is “destroying Jewish tyranny,” praised Gorsuch in a January 31 article as a “pretty good pick” due to his “strict Constitutional interpretation” and the fact that “we actually have a White male here!” [, 1/31/17; Media Matters, 9/20/16]

Daily Stormer: Gorsuch Is “A Hardcore Religious Right-Winger, Which Is Exactly What We Wanted.” Neo-Nazi and anti-Semitic website Daily Stormer lauded Trump in a January 31 article for choosing a “White Anglo-Saxon Protestant male,” adding that Gorsuch is “a hardcore religious right-winger, which is exactly what we wanted.” The article warned readers that “Jew [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer is already planning his plots against” Gorsuch’s confirmation.
