The Daily Caller's 5 Sexist Attacks On Crossfire's Stephanie Cutter

Stephanie CutterThe Daily Caller launched numerous sexist attacks against Crossfire co-host Stephanie Cutter in its “first, and hopefully last,” review of CNN's newly resurrected debate show.

After Crossfire's premiere on September 9, Daily Caller reporter Patrick Howley wrote a review of the show that focused largely on denigrating the “catty air-kissing backstabbing” Cutter while mostly ignoring co-host Newt Gingrich and guests Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ). In roughly 600 words, Howley made the following five observations about Cutter:

  • “A loathsome creature like Stephanie Cutter, the roots jutting out from her blonde dye job as black as the recesses of her soul, can push her way onto national television to sit next to a former Speaker of the House and two sitting U.S. senators.”
  • “Stephanie Cutter is feminism mutated into grotesque cartoon.”
  • “She is Carrie Bradshaw without the literacy, Chelsea Handler without the punch lines, Kirsten Powers without the prettiness, gorging her face with the spoils of ill-gotten first-world privilege.”
  • “But their voices were lost amid the cackles and jagged bursts of violent faux-laughter put forth by makeup-coated Cutter.”
  • “Why? On behalf of every cute, shy, intelligent young woman rejected by sororities at the fuchsia nails of clipboard-toting middle managers like Cutter, we ask, 'why?' On behalf of every hardworking man forced to report to vaguely qualified female 'corporate consultants' in a post-Anita Hill world, we ask, 'why?'”

The Daily Caller was founded by Tucker Carlson, who co-hosted Crossfire's original incarnation from 2001 to 2004. The show was canceled shortly after a guest appearance by The Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
