Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart claimed in a speech Thursday in Texas that he is not battling liberal politicians, but mainstream media, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The newspaper reported on Breitbart's talk before the Dallas Tea Party, noting attendees paid between $5 and $20 each to be there:
Breitbart devoted much of his keynote speech to, in his view, a major power source of the left -- the mainstream media.
“We are at war with the mainstream media of America, and they're losing,” Breitbart said to cheers. “They are in their last death spiral.”
The California native runs a series of conservative websites and gained nationwide attention last year by posting videos that led to the demise of ACORN. In July, he posted a video of an official at the U.S. Agriculture Department that, taken out of context, appeared to show her making racist statements. He later said he was not aware of the context of her comment.
On Thursday, Breitbart criticized a wide range of national media outlets, including The New York Times and Politico.com, for glorifying the left while disparaging the right.
“They always change their goal posts for the other side,” Breitbart said as attendees nodded.
Breitbart was the final speaker at an event that also featured Virginia Thomas, wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and a conservative activist, and radio hosts Mark Davis and Jeff Bolton.
