Surprise! Wingnuts embrace unsubstantiated Tea Party report

They're all doing it today, linking to something called NowHampshire.com, which pretends to have a big scoop about how local Democrats are trying to recruit activists to show up at Tea Party rallies and wave racists signs. (Because Tea Partiers won't do that themselves?)

Former Democratic State Party Chairman Kathy Sullivan is heading up the search, the source said. Sullivan has been calling and e-mailing liberal activists trying to get them to attend tea parties in different parts of the state and hold signs denying the authenticity of President Barack Obama's birth certificate and make racially disparaging comments to reporters.

“This is Kathy's [Sullivan] project,” the source told NowHampshire.com. “She is absolutely obsessed with painting the tea party people as racists.”

Alas, the scoop by the so-called citizen journalist site is laughable in that nobody at Now! Hampshire bothered to contact local Democrats, such as Sullivan, to confirm the story, or to even get a single quote. (Guess the story was too good to check.) Instead, the whole 'article,' is built around an “anonymous” source who weaves a very pleasing right-wing tale about Democrats. That's it. That's the “reporting.”

Gimme a break.

UPDATED: According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, the “controversial” Now! Hampshire site used to be run by “conservative Web master Patrick Hynes.”

You get the picture.
