On the October 18 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly stated that Mexico has “never been different in 300 years” and that it's "[n]ever going to change" because “it's too corrupt; it's too disorganized.” O'Reilly was discussing immigration to the United States with a caller to the show.

From the October 18 broadcast of Westwood One's The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:

CALLER: Seriously, Bill, we have been nothing but benevolent to these people. And it really offends me when people like Enrique [Morones, a call-in guest to the show and president of Border Angels, a humanitarian program in San Diego] say that he's offended by swastikas. I'm offended by gang graffiti that is everywhere around me, that I have to deal with on a daily basis. And it's just absolutely outrageous. You got to stop these people. We have been nothing but kind to them and nice to them. And you know what? We've had it up to here, here in California. We're tired of them. We're --

O'REILLY: Well, look, I don't -- look, there are good people and there are bad people in all walks of life. And you can assign the same proportion to illegal immigrants, to undocumented aliens, whatever you want to call them. Okay? It's the same proportion. The problem is that the government has let us down and has created a chaotic situation where violent gangs like MS-13 from El Salvador can come in and can cause unbelievable carnage. And anybody can come in.

And that -- see, I'm more angry at our government -- Mexico is Mexico. It's never been different in 300 years. Never going to change. I don't think it's going to change, ever, there. It's too corrupt; it's too disorganized. It ain't going to change, all right? But our government should know better. So I'd lay it on the government rather than the people.
