On The Listening Post, Angelo Carusone: “The U.S. media is in denial when it comes to the threat of right-wing extremism”

From the August 19 edition of Al Jazeera English's The Listening Post:

ANGELO CARUSONE (MEDIA MATTERS PRESIDENT): If you're a corporation like GoDaddy, what you're doing is responding to market forces. They get to do that. One of the things that Daily Stormer, in particular, did is that it's not just that they're saying mean things or saying racist things. It's more than just that. What they're really doing is that they're actually encouraging, supporting, organizing violence. And that is where free speech has always ended.

[...]

CARUSONE: The U.S. media is in denial when it comes to the threat of right-wing extremism and the violence that's there. They just are. They've been in denial for a very long time. In large part, why they don't go there is because of fear. Fear of being attacked as biased or fear of retaliation against them. And that really shows just how dangerous these far-right voices are.
