Rush Mocks Malia, Tells Hungry Schoolchildren to “Dumpster Dive”

By Christine Schwen

Rush opened today's show with a story that gave him the opportunity to both attack Obama and follow Beck's lead in attacking Obama's 11-year old daughter: Obama was shaving this morning, Rush told us, when the door opened and he heard a child's voice say, “Did you shake down BP yet, daddy?” Rush continued down the low road, adding that Obama is just a child playing president, claiming that Obama's “regime” has done severe harm to our country, saying that Obama doesn't particularly like most Americans, and stating that the president is a "disaster" who “doesn't really care” about the oil spill. Rush was particularly upset about the proposed BP escrow account, wanting to know why Obama isn't contributing to the account BP has to create to pay restitution for the spill. Rush also called Obama's speech “fraudulent” because cap and trade has nothing to do with the rig -- it has to do with “another fraud, global warming.” Rush even blamed Obama for inspiring his “reasonable” caller to believe that Obama blew up the rig and is delaying the cleanup to destroy the evidence. Rush explained that he doesn't like to say these things -- yet he pushed on, somehow managing to continue attacking Obama for almost the entire show.

In the second hour, as if the first hour of constant attacks on Obama's “negligen[ce]” on the Gulf never happened, Rush explained that, while he's not minimizing the loss to people who make their living in the Gulf of Mexico, the leak isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things. In fact, Rush added, it's only one gallon of oil for every 6.6 billion gallons of water in the Gulf. So, Rush explained, Obama (who, remember, just one hour ago was neglecting the spill) and the media are over-hyping the spill.

In the third hour, Rush managed to dip even lower, shifting from attacking Obama to attacking hungry schoolchildren. Responding to reports that some of the parents of the more than 30 million children who receive discounted and free school lunches during the school year need Summer Food Service programs in order to feed their families, Rush resorted to mocking the children for not knowing how to find food. He suggested creating a recurring segment on his show called “where to find food.” He decided the first segment would be called “try the refrigerator,” followed by “try McDonalds,” and the classiest of all: “Dumpster Dive.” Rush spent a great deal of time chuckling at his joke.
