On The Bill Press Show, Media Matters' Julie Millican details the lengths right-wing media are going to attack Christine Blasey Ford

Millican: “What we’re seeing is what we would expect out of the right. They’re doing everything that they can to try to discredit Dr. Ford. They are trying to cast doubt on her story.”

BILL PRESS (HOST): Overall how do you think the media has responded to the letter originally sent anonymously by Dr. Christine Ford to Senator Feinstein?

JULIE MILLICAN (VICE PRESIDENT, MEDIA MATTERS): Well it’s interesting because if you were just starting to tune into the story you would think that the media has been following the Kavanaugh nomination and confirmation process very closely from the start and that simply has not been the case. This is actually the first that I've seen them really really dive in a particular story.

PRESS: You think they were giving Kavanaugh a pass?

MILLICAN: Yeah, I mean they were treating it as though it was inevitable, and that it wasn't interesting to cover. So they preferred instead to cover what the latest shenanigans out of the White House was.

...

MILLICAN: Now that they are -- after Dr. Ford's reports came out, they are paying attention. What we’re seeing is what we would expect out of the right. They’re doing everything that they can to try to discredit Dr. Ford. They are trying to cast doubt on her story. They are trying to say that even if it was true it doesn’t matter, you know slander people who are victims of sexual assault saying that this isn’t sexual assault this is “horse play.” You name it, they're doing it. They're pushing conspiracy theories that have fallen apart fantastically in their faces. But we had a minute where yesterday there was stuff being circulated that her brother worked for a law firm that was hired by Fusion GPS.

PRESS: Oh god, Fusion GPS again.

MILLICAN: The deep state, yeah, yeah. But it of course turned out that the brother had left the law firm I think it was almost a decade before they even were hired by Fusion so clearly he had nothing to do with that. But you name it and that’s what they’re trying to do right now.
