On the June 13 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage declared that a possible 2008 presidential bid by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) would "stir up a race war, a civil war in the country to get that hag, that harridan elected." Savage added that a Clinton presidential campaign would provoke "race riots" and "will be one long hate crime against white people."

Savage referred to a January 16 speech Clinton gave at New York's Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in which she compared the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives to a plantation. As Media Matters for America has noted, conservatives accused Clinton of "race-baiting" for making the "plantation" remark, even though numerous Republicans and conservatives, including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA), have used similar "plantation" analogies to attack Democrats.

From the June 13 broadcast of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: The race baiting, oh, it's going to be a horrible campaign when Hillary starts it. Oh my God. We're liable to have outright race war in America when she starts running. They're crazy. They'd stir up a race war, a civil war in the country to get that hag, that harridan elected. There's no question we're going to have race war, race riots in America.

They'll start in, "Blacks can't vote, didn't get in, the booth was closed, they got there 2 minutes late, it was closed only for black people." I don't understand how they can get away with it. You mean you wanna talk about a hate crime? Her campaign will be one long hate crime against white people. I don't know why black people buy into that. I don't get it. Blacks I met are smart, I don't understand this. They gotta know they're being used by the Clintons. I'm not saying vote for Republican, don't get me wrong. You know, I wouldn't vote for a Republican by and large. But for God sakes, you're going to go for that plantation, that plantation speech again? Here we go again.
