SEAN HANNITY (HOST): I had a long conversation with Steve Witkoff and — a long conversation — and it went into great specificity and detail way beyond this memorandum of understanding. If you've done a business deal in your life, they put together usually what is called the term sheet. Some people might call it a memorandum of understanding. It's all pretty much the same thing.
And all it is is like the basis, alright we're starting on these points, and you sign it, and it just means you agree to begin discussions, what the discussions are about. They actually, I learned, and I don't think he'd mind me sharing this with you, so I will. He didn't tell me it was off the record, that it is so much deeper than that term sheet. It is — it is so — so different, and then there's other pressure. JD Vance was on some show saying that, you know, that there was a lot of pressure just to get something on paper so that all these discussions they didn't want to have it out in public because there still are factions that are, you know, competing for power within the Iranian regime.
Meaning you have the more — the hardliners, the IRGC, some of these people, and then the more political side. And there is a group of people that desperately want out of this situation because they see what's happening to their country. The most effective move besides the bombing, obviously, Midnight Hammer, Epic Fury were historic in so many different ways, and, obviously, that has had a massive impact on Iran. The blockade is the single most other effective thing that the president put in place. Their entire economy, 90% of it, is an energy oil based economy.
After the president resumed those two big bombings last week, it got the Iranians' attention. And when he said the next night is going to be harder than the previous two nights and he's probably taking Kharg Island, then all — behind the scenes I am told — that all hell broke loose. And that all the Iranians — and JD confirmed this to me. I've no reason to doubt him. That for the first time in 47 years, there is direct communication with the Iranian leadership, and that apparently had never happened before. And they were begging to sign a sheet and get their signature on a piece of paper, and that was — that quote was the memorandum of understanding.
And I don't even think they're going to have a ceremony and sign this stupid thing because it's meaningless anyway, because that's not what the deal's going to be.
