CHRISTIAN WHITON (GUEST): You do have to look at the real world factors. We're enforcing a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz but Iran also effectively has one in place. Oil tankers are not transiting. The Pentagon botched Project Freedom. How that was botched is still unclear to me. I don't really believe the Gulf-ies were upset that we were doing too much but whatever, the Pentagon did not pull that off. And so we have to react.
And if you go back to — just got back to Richard Nixon for inspiration, when the north Vietnamese were jerking us around at the negotiating table and he ordered Operation Linebacker I and Linebacker II, severe bombing campaigns of north Vietnam in 1972, which enabled the 1973 agreement that got us out and got our POWs out — we need to hit Iran. We've gotten to this point. We're in a war, and that's it.
