MAHA influencers voice support for FDA's Makary as his job floats in limbo

Alex Clark: “DO NOT FIRE MAKARY. He is one of the strongest representatives of the MAHA movement inside the federal government.”

  • MAHA influencer Alex Clark voiced her support for embattled Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary Friday amid reports that his job may be in jeopardy.

Reports that Makary's job could be in danger began to surface early last week. Politico wrote that the White House approved a plan from senior Health and Human Services officials to oust Makary after he “alienated a range of HHS officials and interest groups, including anti-abortion activists, opponents of vaping regulation and some drug manufacturers.”

In an Instagram post featuring a photo of her and Makary, Clark — who recently attended a meeting with other MAHA figures at the White House — claimed attacks against him are coming from “Big Pharma and the media outlets.” She appealed directly to Trump, writing, “DO NOT FIRE MAKARY. He is one of the strongest representatives of the MAHA movement inside the federal government.”

  • Other MAHA influencers commented in support. Vani Hari, also known as “The Food Babe,” commented, “Agree.” Kelly Ryerson, who goes by “The Glyphosate Girl,” commented, “This.” MAHA pediatrician Dr. Joel “Gator” Warsh wrote, “1000%.” Conservative influencer Debra Lea wrote, “Every word!”

  • This comes as part of the MAHA movement splinters from Trump on key issues ahead of midterm elections. Clark previously called the endorsement of Trump by now-HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the “greatest political moment” of her life — recently, however, she told The New York Times that members of the MAHA movement “feel like their vote is useless” and “have lost the energy.”
