JOHN ROBERTS (ANCHOR): Let's bring in former acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey. So what do you make of this idea that they [ICE agents] are under orders now, and I assume it probably came from Markwayne Mullin, to suspend most vehicle stops.
JONATHAN FAHEY (FORMER ACTING DIRECTOR, U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT): Well, I think if it was done because they've determined, you know, ICE agents are under increased threats and they want to make sure they are kept safe and the public is kept safe, that — and it's going to be for a temporary period of time — that's one thing. But if it in any way, one, implies one of these agents did something wrong, I think that could be a problem. But also if it also emboldens some of these quote-unquote protesters that are really, their goal is really to subvert ICE in all its roles, it might embolden them to be more active in resisting and fighting against ICE. So, you know, we were talking before the break about places that have you know eliminated pursuit policies — police departments — and how that increases more violence and more danger. So hopefully it's temporary, because you know they are going to have to get people in vehicles. That's just the way things are.
