BRHEANNA BOUDREAUX (WWLTV ANCHOR): Also in Alabama, but one that hits close to home, those rising fuel prices; they're forcing shrimp boats to stay docked. With high diesel prices, many crews say that they simply just can't even afford to get out on the water. They say a trip on the water means tens of thousands of dollars, leaving shrimpers to decide whether the catch is worth the fuel it costs to get it. The issue has caused a domino effect from seafood processors to restaurants and retailers as businesses across the area continue to be impacted. Shrimpers say they're now calling on state and federal leaders for relief as they work to keep the industry afloat during rising fuel costs.
