HOWARD KURTZ (HOST): Will the media uproar over the surveillance of a reporter doing her job prompt a reexamination of the FBI tactics and your favorite subject, the Russia, Mueller, Trump investigation? 

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY (SENIOR EDITOR, THE FEDERALIST): Right. It's very understandable that people are concerned when the government comes in and investigates a reporter. We do have freedom of the press, and that is something that is not -- it's very well protected, but a lot of the way journalists can work is made possible by the Department of Justice choosing not to go after journalists. There aren't as many rights there when you are involved in the commission of a crime such as leaking classified information. But, yeah, it is interesting that journalists can see, “Well, we don't want the government surveilling us at all when we're doing our work.” They don't seem to provide that same understanding when they are looking at how Donald Trump does not appreciate being surveilled in his campaign and other work.
