Fox's Doocy: “Politically,” Donald Trump's Proposed Ban On Muslim Entry Into US “Has Been A Brilliant Move”

Brian Kilmeade: “Average Person” Thinks “Donald Trump ... Seems To Be Watching Out For Me” With His Proposal

ELISABETH HASSEELBECK: Well Donald Trump and his plan certainly coming under fire for his solution. Some saying many in his party turning their back against him. We heard Paul Ryan speak out, we've heard Marco Rubio say it's not a plan, this is extreme, Jeb Bush saying this is not a solution. But there are many voters, in a recent Fox News poll, that are actually showing that primary voters in South Carolina post those comments from Donald Trump, have pumped their support eight percent.

STEVE DOOCY: That's right. This is a Fox News poll, it was done over a couple of days. Notice the top line. The support for Donald Trump before he made the comments talking about a Muslim ban on a temporary basis until they figure out what to do about the situation was at 30 percent. But then after the comments, at 38 percent. Okay so that's a split poll, it was done over a couple of days. Bloomberg did an online poll afterwards and asked primary voters, do you favor this particular plan? Two-thirds of Republicans who plan to vote in the primary said, “Yes, I like that.” One third of the Republican voters say this makes them more likely to vote for Trump. So politically, this has been a brilliant move by Donald Trump.

BRIAN KILMEADE: You had a president on Sunday who looked essentially say, “warn us” more than say, “I have your back. Warn us, we better not do certain things,” and made most of America feel totally insecure that the man in the White House is on the case when it comes to the war on terror. Then out comes Donald Trump, who goes the other way and says, “Not only am I going to watch your back, but I'm going to create new rules, I don't care how controversial it is.”

HASSELBECK: Or unconstitutional, perhaps.

KILMEADE: And now let's think about this. Now let's factor in the fiance visa, where the admission process into our country is a sham and has been abused. If you look at these two things, and you take away the average person who is not into the political process like we are and everyone behind the cameras are and in the control room are and a lot of our viewers are, the average person, they go, “Donald Trump is seems to be watching out for me.” And that's why I think fundamentally -- I'm doing the radio show yesterday, and there's not one person, I must have taken 30 calls over the last -- yesterday and the day before, not one person's against Trump. Not one.

DOOCY: See the key is, and this is how we have framed it all along, is when you talk to the experts, they hate it. The political elites, they hate it. But when you talk to the regular people out there, they like the idea that he's got his back. Nonetheless, you look at what's going on right now, the GOP establishment, the left as well, they're trying to do everything they possibly can to get Donald Trump out of the race. But he is flourishing. And then there's talk about whether or not, well if he doesn't get the nomination, maybe he'll run as a third party.
