RACHEL MADDOW: The Democrats have said from the beginning that the Republicans perverted this issue. That they took this solemn and serious national security matter and they took one of the most serious things a Congress can do, this special select committee process, and they just turned it toward partisan purposes. They turned it into just a way to try to hurt Hillary Clinton in the next election. That's what Democrats have been saying about this thing for a year and a half, since the Republicans first brought up the whole idea. And Republicans have spent the whole year and a half saying “No, no, no, that's not at all what we're doing, how dare you?” And now on the cusp of becoming speaker, Kevin McCarthy has just admitted “Yeah, this was all to hurt  Hillary Clinton, didn't we do a good job?” And Fox News says “Yes, I give you credit for that.”
