Savage on "liberal social activism": "They imposed affirmative action on me and stole my very birthright simply because I was white"

On his radio show, Michael Savage said, "I grew up with parents who went through the Depression. And I went through a sort of depression in my own life as a result of liberal social activism. They imposed affirmative action on me and stole my very birthright simply because I was white."

Quinn says he told Fatimah Ali to "get an American name," because, "why would you want to relate to Africa? Africa is a nightmare."

Radio host Jim Quinn again addressed his September 3 comment that Philadelphia Daily News columnist Fatimah Ali should "get an American name ... if you want to be an American," saying: "[T]he point that I was making here was simply this: First of all, why would you want to relate to Africa? Africa's a nightmare." Also, Quinn asserted that Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga is "[Sen. Barack] Obama's cousin," a claim that has been denied by the Obama campaign and was disputed by a PolitiFact.com article.

MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan appeared on the June 29, 2008, and September 14, 2006, editions of The Political Cesspool Radio Show, a program whose "Statement of Principles" asserts that it "represent[s] a philosophy that is pro-White." Buchanan's June 29 interview was streamed "Live" on the self-described "White Nationalist" and "White Pride" website Stormfront.org.

CNN quoted far-right blogger Steve Sailer on Obama, without noting background denigrating minorities

In a CNN.com article accompanying the network's "Black in America" project, Steve Sailer, who was quoted in the article, was identified only as a "columnist for The American Conservative magazine." The article omitted any mention of Sailer's racially tinged views or his extremist associations, including his writing for VDARE.com, an "anti-immigrant" website that acknowledges publishing the work of "white nationalists."

WABC* says Imus' explanation of controversial comments "makes sense" -- then why did Warner Wolf give a different one?

On his radio show, host Don Imus explained controversial comments he'd made the previous day about Adam "Pacman" Jones, who, it was noted, is African American, by asserting, "My point was that there's no reason to arrest this kid six times. He's a football player. He's a lovely kid. He's out having fun. He doesn't need to be arrested six -- he gets arrested times. Well, we know why he gets arrested six times." But, sportscaster Warner Wolf, who was part of both conversations, offered a different explanation: "[A]nybody that listens to the show knows that whether it's a politician or an athlete or anyone, someone who's obviously guilty, you joke and say, 'Well, it must have been racism.' I mean, it's a joke. I mean, we all know that 'Pacman' is no model citizen. The guy's been arrested and suspended. So it's a joke." Notwithstanding the apparent conflict in their explanations, WABC's* Phil Boyce reportedly said of Imus' explanation: "When I first heard the comment I thought that's probably what he meant, but I called him and he explained and it made sense to me. I said, 'Let's make sure you explain it the next time you're on the air,' and he did a very good job."

Ignoring McCain's inaction, AP claimed NC GOP "ignored McCain's repeated calls to kill" controversial ad

The AP reported that Sen. John McCain's campaign "promises to condemn any race-based political appeals" and, referring to a controversial television ad by the North Carolina state Republican Party attacking Sen. Barack Obama, asserted that McCain made "repeated calls to kill the ad." But according to the party's chairwoman, at no point did McCain call her directly and ask that she not run the ad, and McCain reportedly said that "he wouldn't have run the GOP ad, 'but I am not going to referee, I am just going to run my own campaign.' "

MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan said of the Republican strategy against Sen. Barack Obama: "[T]hey're going to use his associations. And they're going to use his statements, his elitism. They're going to use the fact he's exotic."

Matthews: Jewish voters "have one key concern," Israel; "[I]f you're African-American ... [y]ou care about certain programs of the federal government"

Discussing "the Catholic vote" on Hardball, Chris Matthews said: "It isn't like a vote like, for example, if you're a Jewish voter probably you care about Israel, that's a safe bet. You have one key concern. ... But clearly, if you're African-American, you care about civil rights. You care about certain programs of the federal government. That's a generalization, but probably true."
