From a December 15 post by The Jawa Report's Rusty, headlined "Media Matters Now Defending Kiddie Porn:
Look, we're no prudes around here. We like hot lesbian teacher posts as much as any one. But I've read some of the stuff being recommended by Kevin Jennings and it's the kind of reading that would make a sailor blush. No, more than that. The sailor would first blush, then take you out back and kick your ass. Then he'd kick it again just for safe measure.
Any one defending Jennings after actually bothering to read what his organization recommends deserves that same ass kicking.
Conservative blogs have claimed that Department of Education official Kevin Jennings is unfit as "Safe Schools Czar" because he supposedly promoted "child porn" by allowing an education organization he founded to recommend for students in grades 7-12 books that included sexually explicit content. The organization, however, specifically stated on its book list website that "some titles for adolescent readers contain mature themes" and recommended that "adults selecting books for youth review content for suitability"; further, schools regularly teach books that contain sexually explicit material.
Right-wing bloggers have cheered a Swiss referendum establishing a constitutional ban on the construction of minarets. The bloggers have termed this prohibition on building new mosque towers a "VICTORY!" that demonstrates that the Swiss have "at least partial immunity to the European Malaise."
