Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said during a speech Friday that President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies would ban guns and ammunition if they could get away with it.

It's bad enough, as Jamison Foser noted yesterday, that the Beltway press continues to treat the half-term governor, and failed VP candidate, as The Most Important Person In The World. What's even worse is that reporters can't even be bothered to produce actual journalism while on the Palin beat.

Meaning, if Palin claimed Obama and his allies would ban free speech if they could get away with it, would the AP actually point out that's not true? What if the mind-reading Palin claimed Obama would invade Canada if he could get away with it, would the AP blow the whistle then?
